I'm not sure about the science behind the technology of Panasonic "Maribel," claiming to put moisture into your hair, so don't turn directly. I know, though, that with repeated use, normal hair straighteners will leave my hair a little Frizzy. This straightener, does a good job of making my hair smooth and shiny, without any kind of roughness to hear. It is nice and light and has five temperature settings (from 300 degrees at about 400 degrees)
